Information about an open public meeting using Zoom

The Shipley, Keighley and Ilkley branch of the Liberal Democrats would like to invite you to an open zoom meeting about Devolution for Yorkshire. The meeting will be held on Wednesday 23 March at 1930 hours. We are often told that devolution leads to stronger democracies, more equality within societies giving people more say in the political system. But does it? Does devolution lead to a fairer distribution of resources providing stronger public services or is it nothing more than a costly political exercise leading to yet another layer of government? How would a devolved Yorkshire benefit Yorkshire folk? How would it tackle issues such as climate change, rural isolation and levelling up? What would a devolved Yorkshire mean for us all?

If you want to know more about the strengths and weaknesses of a devolved Yorkshire register to attend our zoom meeting and find the answers to your questions from our three guest speakers:

Bex Whyman - Green Party mayoral candidate for South Yorkshire

Ian MacFadyen, Co-editor of "The Yorkshire Yellow Book 2019 Essays on a Liberal Future for Yorkshire and the Humber"

John Grogan - Co Chair One Yorkshire Committee and former MP for Keighley

To register please send an email to info@shipleylibdems.org.uk

We look forward to seeing you at the meeting as we explore together the concept of One Yorkshire for Yorkshire.
